On 4 March 2024, everything will revolve around PFAS (perfluorinated and polyfluorinated alkyl substances) - a group of substances that are used in countless everyday products, from frying pans to rain jackets. At the same time, PFAS are increasingly polluting the environment and people. (See tagesschau from 23 February 2023) The problem with PFAS: once in the environment, they can hardly be broken down.

The UFZ and DECHEMA are putting PFAS at the centre of a special event on this day. The special thing: We are bringing together various essential specialist perspectives on the PFAS problem. Together with you, we will take a holistic look at where we currently stand.

  • What regulations await us and how can companies and suppliers respond to them?
  • How can we detect PFAS in the environment and determine their impact?
  • How can local authorities deal with cases of damage?

We want to pave the way together with you and create solutions together: Join us!

With breakout sessions on monitoring, toxicity, recycling, degradation technologies and the regulation of PFAS, we are creating a basis for new networks, long-term collaborations and new projects. Our goal: to be able to face the PFAS challenge together in a constructive and forward-looking way in the future!
