AI-Powered Matchmaking for Leipzig’s Life Sciences Ecosystem

The AI matchmaking prototype is a development and testing project aimed at evolving the process of matching collaboration partners within Saxony’s life sciences ecosystem from a purely human-driven approach to an AI-powered one.

Our goals:

  •  Development of a functional prototype for AI-supported semantic matching between competency profiles and collaboration needs

  • Automated collection of company and product profiles from publicly available sources

  • Testing using real data from Saxony’s life sciences ecosystem with approximately 1,000 generated product and service profiles

  • Clarification of key practical questions: technical quality of the matching, extent of required manual review, and the ability to infer technological maturity and economic situation from public sources

  • Assessment of data protection requirements for automated profiling

Partners:

The project was managed by leap:up GmbH, in close collaboration with Yanios by Get OPTIMO UG, which was responsible for technical development and testing.

Results:

  • A functional prototype, tested on approximately 1,000 real-world product profiles.
  • Evidence that semantic AI matching in the life sciences sector yields practically useful collaboration suggestions.
  • Automated data enrichment with a reliability of approximately 90 percent.
  • Clear identification of key areas for further development: scaling the validation process, reducing AI hallucinations, and improving user-friendliness.
