2024 was a year of success for biosaxony. Programmes such as QualiBioPharma for career changers and the MedTech accelerator MEDICAL FORGE Leipzig were successfully continued. International visibility was significantly increased through participation in leading industry events, which facilitated new collaborations with international partners, particularly from the Arab world.
A particularly significant step was the official founding of the
Radiopharmacy Cluster Dresden nukliD® with the participation of Minister President Michael Kretschmer. This cluster aims to make Saxony's radiopharmacy more visible worldwide and drive forward new developments in nuclear medicine.
The growing network of biosaxony was strengthened by the new members AURA Health Technologies GmbH BIOSAW, Cancilico GmbH, eCovery GmbH, imk Health Intelligence, Kunststoff-Zentrum Leipzig, PPT Pharma Process Technology GmbH, WILDDESIGN GmbH, WITTHOFF Jaekel Steinecke Part GmbH and ZEISS Innovation Hub Dresden. These companies expand the cluster's range of expertise and strengthen the innovative power of the entire ecosystem.
A particular highlight was the keynote speech by Dubravka Maljevic, Head of Medical Technology at BG Kliniken, who emphasised the importance of knowledge sharing and collaboration in order to bring innovations into practice more quickly. In this context, Dr Oliver Uecke, Chairman of the Board of biosaxony e.V., explained that biosaxony is a comprehensive partner that supports companies along the way - from regulatory consulting to specialist development and investor relations. Managing Director André Hofmann emphasised the importance of personal encounters and direct communication for the success of the network.
For 2025, biosaxony is continuing its ambitious development. Plans include the establishment of a phage research and transfer centre in Leipzig, the establishment of the VC fund Goldtrack Ventures and the Company Builder growth:factor. In addition, the construction of new laboratories in Leipzig will further strengthen the innovation environment. A significant innovation is the renaming of biosaxony Management GmbH to leap:up GmbH, which supports companies on their growth path as a life science enabler. In view of current challenges, Oliver Uecke and André Hofmann emphasised in their statements that biosaxony will continue to advocate open and democratic cooperation.
The New Year's reception was not only a platform for expert discussions, but also an evening full of inspiring encounters. In a relaxed atmosphere, the participants made new contacts, discussed ideas and laid the foundations for future collaborations. A successful start to a promising year.
