Start of the year: Netzwerk trifft Standortpolitik
With a view to the past year 2025, Dr. Oliver Uecke, Chairman of the biosaxony e.V., the development of the network. "Targeted networking, international presence and thematic prioritisation were key drivers for further increasing the visibility of the location and translating impetus into concrete collaborations and projects," says Uecke.
Clustering and prioritisation
One of the key milestones was the leap:upcoordinated establishment of the Radiopharmacy Cluster nukliD®. The aim is to bundle Saxon expertise and strengthen international visibility. In addition, the 1st Annual European BioPharma Obesity Innovation Forum in Leipzig the growing importance of Saxony in the field of metabolic diseases - also against the background of the federally funded Initiative Leipzig Center of Metabolism (LeiCeM).
International presence and national responsibility
The international reach of the network was demonstrated in 2025 by the presence at the BIO International Convention in Boston and the BIO-Europe in Vienna. With the takeover of the alignment of the German Biotech Days 2026 in Leipzig sets biosaxonyalso a visible sign of the national importance of the Life Science-location.
Capital, strategy and structures
Another focus was on access to capital. The Finance Day Leipzig established itself once again as a platform for financing issues in the life sciences and will continue in 2026. Working in parallel biosaxony together with the Free State of Saxony an an Life Science Strategy 2035, building on the successes of the Saxon Biotech Offensive, which celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2025.

"The increasing supra-regional and international visibility of the network is now also reflected in structural adjustments. In February of last year, the biosaxony Management GmbH in leap:up GmbH renamed. With this step, we are taking account ofthe expanded role of the GmbH as a life sciencecompany.Science-enabler and emphasise our orientation beyond Saxony", said Uecke.
Outlook 2026: Transfer stärken, Wachstum ermöglichen
The operational outlook for 2026 was finally given by André Hofmann, CEO of leap:up GmbH and Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board of biosaxony e.V.: "2026 will be another very exciting year for us, for many reasons: Firstly, we expect to be able to open our own training facility for pharmaceutical training courses in Leipzig in the first quarter. We will then be able to use this facility ourselves to train GMP operators, as well as to facilitate external use. We will also be expanding our geographical footprint. A new location in Chemnitz has already been added so that we can now also easily reach the south-west of Saxony with our services. Intensive talks are also currently underway with other locations beyond the state borders.“
Technology transfer in a global context
The keynote speech of the evening set the tone from an industrial perspective. Dr. Ralf Angermund, DirectorExternal Innovation Partnering Germany at Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine, highlighted current trends and expectations in technology transfer between research, start-ups and global pharmaceutical companies.
The network continues to grow: New members in the biosaxony e.V.
During the event, many of the nineteen new members of the biosaxony e.V. before: AURA Health Technologies, Better Basics Laborbedarf GmbH, CovaSyn GmbH, Evolve Partners Biofin Consulting GmbH, FIEGE Logistik Stiftung & Co. KG, FLEXCELERATE Solutions GmbH, intap network GmbH, IoT-Plan GmbH, MIT Centre, OFB Projektentwicklung GmbH, ORTHOVITAL GmbH, SAMD Solutions GmbH, SRH Hochschulen GmbH and Syncwork AG. With itsn different professional profileenthe new members contribute to further strengthening the breadth and performance of the biosaxonynetwork. "It is precisely this diversity that characterises a successful industry cluster," says Uecke. "It creates the density of expertise, contacts and opportunities for cooperation that ultimately makes the difference.“

Exchange and networking: Impetus for the new year
The New Year's reception also provided space for personal dialogue, new contacts and in-depth discussions. In an open atmosphere, ideas were discussed, collaborations initiated and perspectives for the new year developed - a successful start to a year 2026 that will be characterised by strategic development, international networking and sustainable growth.
