Leipzig's role as a research and innovation centre
"Leipzig has established itself as an important centre for life sciences in recent years. With facilities such as the Fraunhofer Institute for Cell Therapy and Immunology (IZI) and the BioCity Campus, the city offers a first-class infrastructure for research and development. Programmes such as the Medical Forge support start-ups in bringing medical innovations to market faster," says conference initiator Leonard Sachs, explaining the decision to choose the Saxon metropolis as the location for this first conference of its kind in Europe.
The city is home to a large number of research institutes, including three Max Planck Institutes, two Fraunhofer Institutes and several universities, which together are at the forefront of biomedical research. This concentration of expertise and resources makes Leipzig an ideal location for events such as the EBOIF.
