Logistics provider FIEGE is expanding its capacity at its Münster-Hessenweg site. A state-of-the-art facility is being built on a plot of land immediately adjacent to FIEGE’s existing healthcare logistics centre, in close consultation with a potential client from the pharmaceutical sector. In addition to the convenient transport links, the proximity to pharmaceutical production sites and the availability of skilled labour in the region are key factors in favour of the expansion. Construction is scheduled to begin in August 2026.
The property is being developed by FIEGE Real Estate. The building comprises around 9,800 square metres of logistics space, more than 1,000 square metres of mezzanine space and a 430-square-metre office area. LED lighting and an air-to-air heat pump ensure energy-efficient operation. In addition, there will be charging infrastructure with a capacity of 200 kilowatts for electric lorries, as well as a rooftop PV system with a peak capacity of around 1,000 kilowatts, which is intended to generate a significant proportion of the electricity required directly on site. The technical infrastructure is also designed in such a way that it can be expanded in the future as required.
Completion is scheduled for June 2027. FIEGE is aiming for Gold certification from the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) for the new building. Jens Fiege, Co-CEO of the FIEGE Group, who runs the family business – which has been in existence for over 150 years – together with his cousin Felix Fiege, explains: “We have been based at the Münster-Hessenweg site for many years, where we handle logistics for numerous companies in the healthcare sector. With this additional logistics centre, we are now creating the conditions to support our healthcare clients with even greater flexibility and to enable further growth.”
