Lordick has headed the University Cancer Centre Leipzig since 2012 and has made a name for himself worldwide with his research. His clinical studies have made a decisive contribution to improving the treatment of difficult-to-treat tumours. Today, his work influences treatment guidelines in Germany, Europe and beyond.
The foundation honours outstanding achievements in cancer research with the prize every year. Previous prize winners have included later Nobel Prize winners. For Prof Lordick, the award is an incentive to continue. The fight against cancer is far from over, he emphasises. And research in Leipzig is at the forefront of this endeavour.
