The audit was completed without any complaints and certified that the centre made an excellent overall impression. The interdisciplinary collaboration between thoracic surgery, pneumology, radiology, radiotherapy, nuclear medicine, pathology and oncology ensures that patients have rapid access to the latest procedures and studies. This means that even advanced tumours can be treated successfully. By exceeding minimum case numbers, having a strong regional network and preparing for a future screening programme, the UKL is setting new standards in lung cancer care. The certification complements the existing services offered by the University Cancer Centre UCCL and strengthens Leipzig's position as a medical centre of excellence.
