Health Minister Christine Clauß today presented "HEALTHY SAXONY", the new "face of the healthcare industry in Saxony".
HEALTHY SAXONY was created on the initiative of the Saxon State Ministry of Social Affairs and Consumer Protection and will serve as a communication platform to support the exchange of information, knowledge transfer and cooperation within the Saxon healthcare industry.
"The healthcare industry is of considerable importance for the economic growth of the Free State as a whole and is one of the most important employers. By establishing this coordination centre, we want to provide an important impetus for strengthening Saxony's healthcare industry," said Health Minister Christine Clauß. "At the same time, we want to provide targeted support to the mostly small and medium-sized companies in the sector in Saxony."
A specially established coordination centre will also develop fields of action and funding objectives as part of a master plan. A board of trustees made up of well-known representatives from the healthcare industry was convened to support this strategy development process. The coordination centre itself is being set up by the project sponsors, Carus Consilium Sachsen (CCS) GmbH and Dresden International University (DIU), on behalf of the ministry and is largely financed by ESF funds.
The website "healthy-saxony.com" was launched on 8 March. It contains information for and about the healthcare industry and services ranging from a job exchange to information on tenders and funding programmes. An "Atlas of the Saxon Healthcare Industry", a database designed to facilitate networking and cooperation between the players in the Saxon healthcare industry, is also currently being developed."In addition to the central social task of providing high-quality patient care as close to home as possible against the backdrop of major demographic and economic challenges, the Saxon healthcare industry has long played an important role as a driver of innovation in Saxony and is a driving force for technological and scientific progress," emphasises Prof. Dr Michael Albrecht, Medical Director of the Carl Gustav Carus University Hospital and spokesperson for Carus Consilium GmbH. "HEALTHY SAXONY will contribute to strengthening Saxony's overall economy by improving the still inadequate networking of companies in this sector with the state's research and development and healthcare institutions."
