The future of medical technology

Buntspeicher, Chemnitz University of Technology and MEC-ABC GmbH will inspire visitors over two days on the topic of the future of medical technology in Chemnitz and south-west Saxony.
The first event of the Chemnitz Health Campus will be held under the motto "FUTURE OF MEDICAL TECHNOLOGY IN CHEMNITZ AND SOUTH-WESTERN SAXONY" and will be organised jointly with the Regional Future Centre Saxony and the Centre for Knowledge and Technology Transfer at Chemnitz University of Technology.

The event is aimed at companies, research organisations, networks, start-ups and institutions in the field of medical technology. The aim is to bring players together, make synergies visible and provide practical impetus for the development, manufacture and application of medical products in the region of south-west Saxony.

The event will focus on the presentation of the Chemnitz Health Campus and two workshops with Michael Kaiser from Biosaxony e.V. and Dr Nadine Leistner from the MEC Academy.

Mr Kaiser will inform interested entrepreneurs about the special requirements of manufacturing and supplying in medical technology and highlight the opportunities and challenges that arise in this industry. The offer is also aimed at students on the Medical Engineering degree programme at Chemnitz University of Technology in order to give them practical insights into the field at an early stage. Julia Garn from imk Health Intelligence GmbH will conclude the workshop with insights from a regional medical technology developer.

Dr Leistner's workshop is dedicated to the path from research idea to marketable product. Both the legal framework and the question of when and in what form scientific results should be published will be examined. The typical development path to a medical product will also be explained. In addition to students and researchers, interested doctors who would like to actively shape the transfer from research to clinical practice are also invited to attend.

The following day, an event entitled "Health Campus Chemnitz and Southwest Saxony: The Future of Medical Technology Saxony" will take place in the Buntspeicher Zwönitz in the Ore Mountains, organised by the Chair of Ergonomics and Innovation Management at Chemnitz University of Technology and the Regional Future Centre Saxony with funding from simul+ Saxony.

This event is aimed in particular at companies based in the Ore Mountains. The focus is on keynote speeches and networking with each other and with stakeholders from the Chemnitz area. Dirk Eisenkraut from SLG Prüf- und Zertifizierungs GmbH will give a keynote speech on the basics and pitfalls in the development and manufacture of medical devices, while Michael Kaiser from Biosaxony e.V. will lead an exclusive workshop for entrepreneurs interested in supplying medical devices.

In addition, there will be themed workshops on the digitalisation of patient pathways, innovative care in rural areas and research transfer. Konstanze Illig and Henriette Auerswald from the Southwest Saxony Health Region model project will be among those responsible for moderation.
