The centre is supported by the University Hospitals of Leipzig and Jena. Together, the two sites treat and advise more than 24,000 people with cancer each year. Patients are given access to more than 600 ongoing clinical trials as well as personalised diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. These include molecular tumour boards, immunotherapies and CAR-T cell therapies. During the new funding period, the aim is, amongst other things, to further develop personalised oncology as well as work in cancer prevention and cancer survivorship. Regional networking is also a key aspect of this. More than 140 hospitals, GPs, rehabilitation centres and other partners now form part of the consortium. This consolidates a structure in Central Germany that links research, clinical trials and patient care across two federal states. At the same time, this creates a regional network for the transfer of new diagnostic and therapeutic approaches into clinical practice.
