With investments totalling two million euros from state funds, the cardiology department at the UKL has been brought up to the highest technical standard. Up to 20 procedures are carried out here every day - from emergency treatment to complex therapies. The new technology provides razor-sharp images of the heart vessels with significantly less radiation exposure. It makes it possible to recognise dangerous plaques at an early stage and treat them in a targeted manner. This benefits not only patients, but also medical staff. UKL Director Christoph Josten emphasised the importance of the modernisation for healthcare in Leipzig and the region. It will ensure cutting-edge medicine at university level in the long term and is the result of an exceptional team effort.
