On 24 September, the clinic opened its doors for an all-day information event. Interested visitors were given an insight into the support services on offer, received everyday tips and were able to experience what the disease feels like in a dementia simulator. A lecture on new Alzheimer's therapies followed on 26 September at Leipzig City Library. Neurologist Prof Dr Dorothee Saur and gerontopsychologist Andrea Bräsecke explained which patient groups were suitable for innovative approaches, how they worked in the brain and what opportunities and risks they entailed. With these offers, Leipzig University Hospital sent a strong signal for education, understanding and humanity in dealing with dementia.
