Setting the strategic course: biosaxony plans for 2025

One focus of the meeting was the implementation of the development platforms presented in the current white paper. These platforms are designed as a one-stop shop and are intended to support and accelerate the innovation process from the initial idea through to the founding of start-ups and expansion as a scale-up company. The aim is to strengthen the innovative power in Saxony through a strong transfer system and to further expand the region as an international hub for life sciences.

Another key point of the meeting was the development of a comprehensive state strategy for life sciences. This new strategy is intended to build on the Saxon biotech offensive from the year 2000, which will celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2025. Initial talks were held at the end of last year with the support of the Saxon State Chancellery and the Saxon State Ministry of Science, Culture and Tourism (SMWK) and the Saxon State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labour and Transport (SMWA). Concrete measures for further development are planned for 2025 and are intended to make the biotechnology and medical technology sector fit for the future.

In addition, the Executive Board emphasised the importance of promoting openness to the world and democracy as core values of biosaxony. This commitment, which was initiated in 2024, will be continued in the future as an integral part of biosaxony's activities. "High-tech industries such as biotechnology and medical technology are particularly dependent on international experts and the free global exchange of knowledge and innovation," emphasised Oliver Uecke, CEO of biosaxony.
