Those involved include Chemnitz University Hospital, Chemnitz University of Technology, the Fraunhofer ENAS Institute, biosaxony, as well as partners from the fields of veterinary medicine and medical technology. The Universities of Leipzig and Dresden, as well as the Fraunhofer IWU, are also supporting the initiative. The One Health approach views human and animal health, as well as environmental conditions, as an interconnected system. This gives rise to fields of research into new diagnostic methods, smart sensor technology, the monitoring of pathogens and digital health applications. The partners aim to develop and test such technologies in collaboration with future users. The collaboration is organised through the C:HUB Health Cluster, which forms part of the master plan for the economic transformation of south-west Saxony. The region aims to use this to tap into further technology-oriented business sectors alongside its traditionally strong automotive industry. Further collaborative initiatives are planned for 2027. The Saxony One Health Days, taking place on 19 and 20 April in Chemnitz, are intended to bring together academia, businesses and healthcare providers. No specific joint development projects or investments have been announced as yet.
