The challenge lies in measuring at least four hormones directly in biological fluids such as sweat, saliva or tissue fluid over a period of seven days. The data obtained is intended to open up new possibilities for diagnosis, treatment and prevention, for example in cases of pre-eclampsia, endometriosis or hormone-dependent metabolic disorders. At the same time, a standardised dataset is to be created to support future research and the use of artificial intelligence. The challenge is scheduled to run for three years. Selected teams can receive funding totalling up to six million euros per project across several development stages. In addition to funding, SPRIND provides participants with mentoring and access to scientific and industrial networks. Through this competition, SPRIND is addressing an area that is internationally regarded as the next frontier in medical technology and FemTech. This opens up opportunities for companies in the fields of biotechnology, diagnostics, sensor technology and digital health to develop new platform technologies with broad clinical and commercial potential.
